Meet the Brewer: Josh Gibson of Good Works Brewing

Josh Gibson started homebrewing 20 years ago after getting a homebrewing kit for Christmas. He soon decided to use his chemistry and microbiology background to come up with his own recipes, and left his corporate job of 25 years to work at Octopi brewing’s fermentation cellar before creating Good Works Brewing Co. in Milton, WI in October of 2023.

Josh was passionate about making Good Works a community based brewery. In 2024, Good Works collaborated with over 34 non-profits around the Milton area to raise money and awareness for their causes. Ranging from food pantries to the humane society to the YMCA and various youth organizations.

From this program, Josh created the Good Works Brewing Experience, in which they host silent or live auctions. One of the prizes you can bid on? A special beer release. You get to create your own beer flavor and take part in the brewing process and label creation, “if they want to do a stout in the middle of the summer, we are doing a stout in the middle of summer.” Then they celebrate this brew at a release party and a portion of the proceeds go back to the charity.

This will be Good Works first year at Door County Beer Festival and we can’t wait for you to try their brews!

His favorite part about his job, is that it isn’t a job, it is a fun thing he gets to do everyday while interacting with his community.
